Pushed to our edge with stress, it can feel nearly impossible to respond to these situations productively. But there's good news!

 

Everyone has a superpower that can give us the boost we need to connect and solve problems. In this session, you'll learn about the Brain Bank, our natural brain chemistry superpowers, and simple evidence-based tools to connect with difficult people.

 

“Whether you’re in large animal, small animal, mixed animal. Whether you’re a general practitioner or a specialist, or work in emergency medicine, working in veterinary medicine is really hard work. It requires a great deal of physical, mental and psychological resilience.”

 

“So, the brain is like a bank, which means we’ve got to be making deposits. We’ve got to put cash in the bank so there’s cash to spend. … What is something that you have in your life that’s a brain bank filler?”

 

“The truth is, every time that you deal with one of those difficult interactions, it means that you have to spend brain cash. You’ve got to make a withdrawal from the brain bank to be able to deal with that thing successfully. And if you don’t have the cash to spend, it’s going to be really hard to navigate that conversation successfully and productively.”
