Music Specifically Designed to Relieve Stress in Horses
Boehringer Ingelheim teamed up with animal sound behaviorist Janet Marlow to develop Relax Trax — a music soundtrack specifically designed to help reduce stress in horses.
Illness or injury can be stressful to both the horse and their owner. Even just the trailer ride to the clinic for a routine visit may be stress-inducing. Relax Trax can be a beneficial tool for any horse that is experiencing stress, especially those that may be on stall rest or rehabbing from an injury. Consider playing the soundtrack throughout your clinic, or sharing with your clients to help reduce the horse's stress levels.
It’s all about composing music and modifying the decibel and frequency levels of each note for the comfortable hearing range of the animal.
The Science Behind the Music
Relax Trax uses rhythms that mimic the gaits of horses, and includes string instruments that elicit feelings of calm. It’s also within the horse’s pitch comfort range of 1 kHz to 16 kHz and a volume comfort range of 60–80 decibels. Learn more about the science behind the music by watching the video.
