When “mystery swine disease” began devastating pig populations in North America in the late 1980s, it was clear something needed to be done.

As the industry began to learn more and porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS) became the agreed-upon name for the disease, Boehringer Ingelheim was hard at work developing a vaccine to fight it.

Today, as Ingelvac PRRS^® MLV marks its 25th anniversary, we look back on some of the key milestones that contributed to the industry’s ability to control PRRS.
