ParaSail®
Glaesserella parasuis Vaccine, Avirulent Live Culture
Glaesserella parasuis (GPS), formerly Haemophilus parasuis, is an early colonizer of the upper respiratory tract of pigs.
The duration of GPS can be short, but it causes a high mortality rate if left untreated. In less than 48 hours, this pathogen can cause systemic infection and death. Other effects include systemic lesions characterized by arthritis, polyserositis and meningitis.
GPS is the fifth-most frequently detected pathogen on respiratory tissues since 2017, and is frequently associated with porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS), influenza A virus in swine (IAV-S), Mycoplasma hyorhinis (M. hyorhinis) and Streptococcus suis (S. suis).
ParaSail® is an intramuscularly administered avirulent live, single-dose Haemophilus parasuis (Glaesserella parasuis) vaccine that aids in the protection from Glässer’s disease.
